Rick passed away peacefully on December 28th after a short time in Palliative Care in Nanaimo, with his wife of 38 years Barbara, and his best friend Randy by his side.
Rick was born in Victoria, B.C. and raised in his family home, which for many years was on the shores of Elk Lake. He moved to Nanaimo in the late 70s. For over 30 years, he successfully ran the business Central Painting and Decorating, a well-respected company that took on jobs big and small throughout Nanaimo and the island.
Rick met his wife Barb in 1980. Together they enjoyed curling, family ski trips, many fun boating adventures and parties with good friends' winter vacations in Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican.
Some of Rick's fondest memories were sharing his boat 'Paradyse' with his friends, family and especially his grandchildren. He was a Nanaimo Yacht Club member since 1988.
He leaves behind his stepchildren: Ron (wife Luella) and Deena (husband Lyle); five grandchildren Conner, Keaton, Matthew, Jessica, and Reece; siblings: Sandra, Bruce and Rob; as well as nieces and nephews.
Rick's wish was for no funeral service. The family will gather at the home he built in 1981 and lived in until passing.
