April 20, 1942 - June 15, 2019
Richard was born in Salmon Arm in British Columbia April 20, 1942 and passed away peacefully June 15, 2019 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital - Palliative Care Unit. He is predeceased by his mother; Nellie Vaye Franklin, and his father; Jack Warner Franklin.
He is survived by his loving wife Beverley of 57 years, daughter; Donna Lowe (Steven), son; David (Josie), Stepdaughter; Karen Ferguson, eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren with another one expected this December, sister; Debra Williams (Bill), brother; Melvin Franklin (Sandra), sister-in-laws;
Carole Sharpe and Irene Sharpe along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard will be greatly missed also by his two dogs; Rosa and Molly.
Richard worked for AGT (Alberta Government Telephone) from 1964 to 1971. He moved his family to Nanaimo in 1971 and started with Telus.
Richard was an avid golfer at Nanaimo Winchelsea Golf Course with many of his golf buddies.
He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. K. Torrie and to all the nurses on fourth floor who cared for Richard through his stay in January and February this year at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Also to the Palliative Care, Home support, Home nurse Dawn and Pharmacist Faye.
There will be a Time of Visitation Saturday, June 29th from 2 pm to 4 pm at Telfords Funeral Centre, 595 Townsite Road, Nanaimo.
