Allen, Rhonda Frances

Rhonda Frances Allen, of Nanaimo, BC, slipped peacefully away in the presence of family and friends on Wednesday, April 30 in her 69th year, after a 9-month battle with cancer. Born in Vancouver, BC on September 28, 1945, Rhonda moved to Nanaimo with her parents and sisters in May, 1953. She graduated from Nanaimo Senior Secondary School in 1961, and worked first in the aviation industry and then in automobile retail sales. Rhonda was proud to be the first female automobile sales person in Nanaimo, finishing her career in 1990 as business manager for a major dealership in Calgary. She returned to Nanaimo in 1990 and, in her retirement, loved to paint and create ceramics and dote on her beloved cat, Tikki. Predeceased by her parents Ronald and Frances Allen (1998 and 1977 respectively), her sisters Diane Wargo (1992) and Pamela Dawson (1980), and her niece Vicki (2013), Rhonda leaves to mourn her passing her sister, Virginia (Ranger) Close of Nanaimo and Abbotsford, nieces and nephews, Mark Ranger, David Ranger, Michelle Wargo, Sheridan (Ranger) Doerksen, Andrea Wargo, Rodney Wargo and eleven grand-nieces and nephews. Rhonda’s wonderful spirit, joy of life and talents will be celebrated at a Memorial Service to be held Saturday, May 24th at 1pm at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1720 Bowen Rd., Nanaimo. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Rhonda’s memory to the BC Cancer Agency.
