With hearts full of gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Rev. Jens Kristian Jensen on May 13th, 2024. Born on April 29th, 1940, Kris led a life marked by adventure, pastoral service, and a lasting love for the farm life of his youth in Eastern Ontario. His great story telling and appreciation for life will remain in our hearts forever.
Kris is remembered with love and joy by his wife, Peggy, daughter, Heather (Scott Rempel) , son, Shaun (Rachel Jensen), his grandchildren, Sarah Nicole, Tyler, Kyle, and Sarah Jane. and sister Inger Marie Morris.
Remembered with gratitude by his extended family: Michael Peterson (Shannon Piedt), Chris Peterson (Mary Martin), granddaughters Taryn, Hanna, and Katie, and brother-in-law Paul Attwell (Deborah Marshall).
He was preceded in death by his daughter Lisa Yakiwchuk.
Rev. Kris served the United Church of Canada from coast to coast. He was ordained in 1971, after graduating from Queens Theological College. Kris served numerous congregations, from Newfoundland to British Columbia, touching lives in each.
Post-retirement, Kris pursued his passions—restoring his 1944 Farmall A tractor, wine-making, lawn cutting and preaching whenever he was invited. Kris was an avid member of the Vintage Tractor Club MIVTEC in Nanaimo.
Kris enthusiastically supported Peggy's ministry in the local area, after her ordination to the United Church in 2000. Together, they embarked on many adventures, including family reunions, volunteering abroad, spiritual pilgrimages, and trips across Canada to visit family. Last year, they settled in the Brechin Residences, actively participating in their local church community.
A celebration of Kris's vibrant life will occur on June 8th at Brechin United Church at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to "Friends of Brechin" donatebrechin@shaw.ca are welcomed.
