Raymond Erhart passed away suddenly of a massive heart attack on February 12, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Irma, his children Carrie Lundgren (Eric); Darrell Erhart (Kimberly); Kevin Erhart (Cheryl); Kim Erhart (Clyde); grandchildren, John Erhart (Breanne); Sten, Kalista, and Tor Lundgren; Jenna, Julie, and Shawn Erhart. Sisters-in-laws, Betty Erhart; Joyce Erhart, and Eileen Storozinski; Brothers-in-laws Harvey Bergner (Pat); and Raymond Bergner (Debbie) and other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents Henry (1995) and Minnie Erhart (1965); brothers Ed Erhart (1968) Ron Erhart (2004).

He was born 24 Dec. 1937, in Camper, Manitoba, the eldest of three boys, spending his childhood years on the farm. As a teenager he went to Winnipeg to find a job. Later he joined his father and uncles in carpentry construction. This lead to a 50 year career, from Ontario to B.C. before retiring (almost). The family moved to Nanaimo in 1968. He was a Life Member in the Nanaimo Flying Club and spent many years enjoying flying in his Cessna 182. He also square danced with the Travelling Squares.

A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, February 21st at 2:00 p.m. at the Nanaimo Flying Club clubhouse, Nanaimo Airport. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon 401-495 Dunsmuir Street Nanaimo, British Columbia V9R 6B9 in his memory. Sands Funeral Chapel Cremation & Reception Centre, 1 Newcastle Ave, Nanaimo is in charge of arrangements.
