On Friday, August 16, 2019, Phyllis Kossey, loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away at the age of 83. Phyllis was born in Kelowna, but grew up in Burnaby with her mom Nancy, father Albert and younger sister Fran, in a tiny house on Neville St. Phyllis spent much of her adult life in Quesnel raising her two sons Mike and Brian Kossey. She retired to Vancouver Island where she was reinvigorated and started a new chapter in her life with 2 new daughter in-laws; Jo-Anne and Karren, and 4 grandchildren; Breanna, Brandon, Alexandria and Samantha, whom brought her tremendous joy.
Phyllis was predeceased by her sister Fran, with whom she shared a special bond. She is survived by her 2 sons and their families and 2 nieces, Julie and Patricia.
Family was important to her and much of her time was spent raising her two boys. Phyllis was also an avid card player from an early age and was involved in bridge clubs here in Nanaimo. Phyllis was kind and unselfish, with a warm cup of tea always bringing a smile to her face. She will be deeply missed.
At Phyllis's request, no formal service will be held.
