Forever now enjoying the sun!

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather (Dido) and great grandfather.

He was predeceased by his wife Anna (December 3, 1989) brothers Peter and Roman (Ukraine) and sister Mary Maczuha (Toronto).

He is survived by his 3 children: Sonia Doig (Nanaimo), Irene (Ted) Cockett (Nanaimo) and Roman Sokolowski (Prince Rupert), many grandchildren and great grandchildren, his brother, Mike (Dora) of White Rock, sister-in-law, Rose Sawka of Prince Rupert and many nephews and nieces throughout BC, Ukraine and Italy.

Paul and Anna were married in Germany in 1945 while being POW's in a German work camp. In 1948, with the help of the Red Cross and his father in law, Mike Setnik, they arrived in Canada settling in Prince Rupert.  Dad worked for the City until his retirement in 1985, and in 1999 he moved to Nanaimo to be closer to family.

Paul passed away peacefully and with dignity at the Nanaimo Senior Village. We wish to thank the nurses and care aids for their excellent care and compassion for both our father and our family.

A service will be held at St Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church on Saturday December 16 at 10:30 am with a burial following at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made online or by mail to the Alzheimer's Society of BC.
