November 3, 1933 - August 14, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norm (Stormin' Norman) Kogstad. With his family by his side, Norm passed away peacefully.

Norm was born in Trail BC, later spending time in Abbotsford on his Grandmothers' farm. As a young boy he moved to the Island spending his youth in Yubou and plenty of time with his grandparents at their houseboat in Cowichan Lake. Later Norm settled in Nanaimo to raise his family.

His passions in life were Scuba diving, camping with his family, hiking and walking with his many beloved pets. While on a dive in Boat Harbour he discovered an enormous anchor that he and his partner Dick Tinga and Darrell Fitzgerald raised and brought to shore. The anchor was dedicated to the City of Nanaimo and can now be enjoyed by all downtown at the Nanaimo waterfront. He also loved canoeing which inspired him to join the White Raven Canoe Club and raise money for the Variety Club Telethon.

Norm worked as a longshoreman for more than 35 years, he was a tough man with a huge heart, always willing to lend a hand or help anyone in need.

Norm is predeceased by his parents Torbjorn and Anna Kogstad and his daughter Karen Sevcov (Nov 09, 2001). He is survived by his wife Maureen, daughter Brenda (Brett), son Todd, daughter Becky-Lou (Rick), daughter Heather (Kurt), grandchildren Lucas (Kilah), Trent, Kae-Lee, great-grandson Liam and special friends Dick and Eva Tinga.
