Ellen passed away peacefully at her home in Victoria after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease.
Ellen was born on a farm near MacNutt, Saskatchewan, then moved to Oliver BC as a young child. After graduating from Southern Okanagan High School, Ellen studied Nursing at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, graduating in 1963.
After working briefly in Ontario, Ellen began at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. In 1967 Ellen was promoted to Head Nurse and worked in several areas until her retirement in 1997 after a career of over 32 years.
Ellen grew up dancing at large family and community get togethers. She kept on dancing in Nanaimo and met her husband Carl. Although her physical impairments limited her, she would still get up, with a little help, and sway back and forth right to the end. Ellen also loved cards, shopping and a good visit over a cup of coffee.
Pre-deceased by her parents Caroline and Ludwig Mund, her husband Carl Doricich, her brother George (Kitty) Mund, her sister Rose (John) Klein and her step daughter Brenda Doricich. Ellen is survived by her niece Barbara (Brian) Shaw and family, and by her step-children Doug Doricich and Leslie Doricich.
Donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of BC.
