Minnie Maud GORDON

September 17, 2006

Gordon, Minnie Maud

Minnie was born May 26, 1905 in Nottingham, England and died in her 102nd year at Dufferin Place, Nanaimo on September 17th, 2006. She came to Canada at the age of two and lived in Vancouver until 1946 when she and her family moved to Nanaimo. She was predeceased by Dawson, her husband of sixty-two years, in 1990, her daughter Janice McRae in 2003, her daughter Paula Berry in January 2006, and by two of her beloved grandchildren, Cst. Scott Berry, R.C.M.P. in 1986 and Alison McRae in 1993. Her son-in-laws Jerry Berry Sr., Nanaimo and Bruce McRae of Vancouver survive her. Also surviving are her grandsons Jerry Berry (Jody), Nanaimo, Paul Berry (Darlene), Courtenay, Cameron McRae (Cristina), North Vancouver and her grand-daughter, Meredith Mortlock (Jack), Nanaimo and several great-grandchildren. She was, for many years, a volunteer at NRGH, and maintained her membership in the Kiwanis Ladies Auxiliary for several decades. She enjoyed her home and garden and, fortunately, was able to live independently, something she treasured until age ninety-three. She then lived comfortably at Long Lake Chateau for five years when, in spite of her sharp mind, loss of eyesight and frailty required her to move to Dufferin Place. A private family service will be held to honour her memory. Special thanks to the staff of the Birch Unit.
