Mary Szasz (nee Balogh) passed away peacefully on June 30, 2018 surrounded by her family at Dufferin Place in Nanaimo. Mary was born July 3, 1928 in Ujpest/ Budapest, Hungary and immigrated to Canada in 1949. Mary lived in Saskatchewan, Ontario (where she married Joseph Szasz), and Nanaimo and Lantzville, British Columbia.
Mary was a strong energetic woman who enjoyed walking, movies and dancing with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was much loved.
Mary is predeceased by her brother, Andrew Balogh and her sister, Helen Klusocsky. Mary is survived by her husband, Joseph Szasz, and her daughters Susan (Roy), Rose (Jim), Linda (Karl), and Joanna (Ed) and eight grandchildren, Kelly, Eden, Ryan, Bradley, Anthony, Katrina, Ashley and Kara.
The family would like to thank the staff at Dufferin Place for their care of Mary in her final years.
Funeral Services will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1 Newcastle Avenue, Nanaimo, on Saturday, July 7/18 at 11:00 a.m. Flowers gratefully declined, family and friends are encouraged to make a donation in Mary's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
