November 21, 1931 - February 21, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Mary announces her passing on Friday February 21, 2020 at the age of 88. Mary was born in Banff, Alberta on November 21, 1931. She is predeceased by her parents Ingrid and Rasmus, her husband Ronald and her son Norman. She is survived by her children Douglas (Karen), Brian (Kathy), Keith (Gale), Lawrence (Elaine), Michael and Cheryl, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Mary looked forward to Sunday night roast dinners and cards with the family. During her early years she would teach her older boys how to drive while they filled up pop machines in the lobby of local apartment buildings. She also spent 22 years at Smitty's Pancake House as a cook. Leisure time was spent camping with family and friends. When she retired she loved to be in her yard planting flowers and volunteered countless hours for Nanaimo Special Olympics doing banquets and outfitting the athletes with their uniforms. Her other passion as a mother was to keep her boys warm by making them fleece jackets year after year and sewing dresses/costumes for her grandchildren.
A small family gathering will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in her honour to Nanaimo Special Olympics.
