Margaret (Marty) Kennedy, nee Disley, age 79, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2018 in Orillia after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
She was born May 10, 1938 to the late Arthur and Florence Disley in Liverpool, England. Marty followed her brother Eric and sister Beryl to Canada in her early twenties. Although trained as a hairdresser, she lived in Toronto and worked at OHIP until she met and married her late husband Denis Kennedy of Parry Sound in 1977. Denis and Marty lived in Parry Sound and wintered in Florida for many years before moving to Nanaimo, B.C., where they enjoyed the best of the west coast lifestyle. In recent years they returned to Ontario to be near family, especially daughter Donna. Denis passed away in 2015.
Marty was also predeceased by her brother Eric Disley and her sister Beryl Heywood (Disley). Marty is survived by her stepchildren Donna Raeburn (Kennedy) of Orillia, Douglas (Jane) Kennedy of Hilton Head and Terry Hurst (Kennedy) of Orillia; her cousins Peter (Monica) Disley of Collingwood and Cherill (David) Latham of Northampton UK; her sister-in-law Daphne Disley of Barrie; her grandchildren Sundae, Cory, Natalie, Amanda and Libby, and her many great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Spencer House, Orillia, especially nurse Sarah, for their compassion and excellent care over the last two years.
Marty requested private arrangements. Interment will be at a later date in Sylvan Acres in Parry Sound. In lieu of expressions of sympathy, the family would sincerely appreciated donations to Parkinson's Disease Research and Support. Thank You.
