NEOTA HAMBLY
1908-2010
Born November 8, 1908 in Cornwall England, immigrated to Canada in 1926, and moved to Nanaimo in 1929. She passed away peacefully at home October 6, 2010.
She was predeceased by her parents and seven brothers; her loving husband of 68 years John Rae Hambly (1997); daughter, Irene McMillan (1970); sons-in-law John Walkosky (1996), Art Travis (2009), Ron McMillan (2010); and daughter-in-law Mary Hambly (2006).
Survived by her son Rae Hambly; daughters, Ruth Travis, Anne Walkosky, (Gordon Ryan) and Mary (Ken) Singer; 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews in Canada, England and New Zealand.
Lylie was a pastry cook/chef at Malaspina Hotel, farmer, election officer, hairdressing model at Malaspina College for 35 years, a lifetime member of branch 257 Legion, Women of the Moose since 1946. Earning her Collegiate call in 1952 and received her cap and gown in 2010. She was also a member of the Nanaimo Community Seniors Society and the East Wellington Sewing Circle.
The funeral was held Tuesday, October 12th at the
Moose Hall. A donation may be made to a Charity
of your choice if you so desire.
