Rozzano, Lorne Benjamin

August 2, 1931 ~ August 2, 2013

It is with very heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the passing of Lorne Rozzano. He passed away, with his wife and family at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer, which he fought to the end with bravery and optimism.

Lorne was born in Duncan, BC to Sarah (Robertson) and Benjamin Rozzano. He is pre-deceased by his parents; brother, David (Rosie) in 2001; sister-in-law, Merilyn in 2010; and special cousin, Ken Medland in 2013. Lorne is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sally; son, Brad Rozzano (Zonna); daughter, Diane Rozzano-Barraclough (Brian); and four cherished grandchildren of whom he was immensely proud: Michael Rozzano, Steven Rozzano, Bryna Barraclough and Brittany Barraclough.

Lorne was in the construction industry on Vancouver Island for decades. With his long-time friend and partner Ron Guild, they owned Quinney & Fuller Construction. He was a member of the Nanaimo and District Pipe Band and the Canadian Scottish Regiment and local Historical Society.

Lorne was an avid gardener and loved the game of golf. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family and grandchildren. Many thanks to Dr. Steyne and the Sows Ear clinic staff, Russell Beales from Central Drugs, Dr. John Shepard of Vancouver General Hospital Leukemia Ward and staff; 4th floor staff of Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, as well as the nurses and doctors at the Palliative Care Unit at NRGH, who are truly exceptional.

We welcome you in celebrating the life of Lorne on Friday, August 23rd, 1p.m. at the Nanaimo Curling Rink on Wall St. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the BC Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated.
