Roy was born in Rounthwaite, Manitoba on April, 10, 1924 and grew up in Ormiston, Saskatchewan. He completed his education in a one room country school and by correspondence. Roy then went on to join the Royal Canadian Air Force and trained as a navigator-bombardier. Pat and Roy were married in 1949 in Saskatoon. His working career included Federated Coop and Burroughs Business Machines (21 years) beginning with the sales of manual adding machines through the sales of automated processing machines and first generation computers. Following that, he worked in sales with R.L. Crane and Data Business Forms.
Roy was an active member of the United Church and Regina Kiwanis Club. Roy and Pat enjoyed many years living in Saskatchewan with good friends and family, playing bridge, square dancing, canoeing, curling, and cross country skiing.
Following his retirement, Pat and Roy moved to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island where Roy spent his time golfing, walking the trails, woodworking, playing the piano, and entertaining family and friends vacationing in the area. Roy was a kind-hearted, quiet family man, always a respectful gentleman. Roy was later diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and spent his last few years in comfortable care in Vancouver, supported by his loving family.
