Captain Lancelot Herbert Shepherd - Lance passed away peacefully with a heart filled with love.
Lance is survived by the true love of his life of 56 years, Eleanor, children Mike and Laurie, their spouses Stacey and Mike, and his four "Luvs", grandchildren Riley, Megan, Nova and Ava.
Lance was a wonderful father, Papa, husband and loyal friend, who touched the lives of so many people around him. Lance will be truly missed, but his spirit and his memories will live on beyond lifetimes. Lance dedicated his life to providing for his family.
He was a skilled Master Mariner who was greatly respected amongst his peers. His career spanned six decades and took him all over the Pacific Coastal waters of Canada and the United States. Lance treasured the ocean and his career, but his true passions in life were his family, his four "Luvs", and riding his Harley.
He was always there to help his friends when they needed him and always took an interest in their lives. Lance was a tough man with a gentle heart, who was cherished so very much by his family and friends, and returned that love exponentially.
Our family is forever grateful to the amazing staff and volunteers at Royal Jubilee Hospital (Floor 8) and Nanaimo General Hospital (Palliative Care Unit) for the wonderful care he was given during his end of life.
At Lance's request there will be no formal service. Instead his ashes will be spread at sea.

He loved you all, and would want the happy memories of him and his love to be in your hearts.
