BAMFORD, JOYCE MARY (NEE STEPHEN) APR 19, 1928 - MAY 8, 2009
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce on May 8, 2009 at the age of 81, in the Palliative Care Unit of
Nanaimo Hospital, after a lengthy and courageous
battle with cancer. Joyce was born and raised in
Montreal, Quebec. Following completion of her nursing degree, she headed west to Nanaimo, BC where she met and married Earl Addison Bamford, Sr. and built a legacy of warmth and care as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Joyce was predeceased by her beloved husband and love of her life, Earl Addison Bamford Sr. Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her son Earl Jr., daughter-in-law Erika, and grandchildren Shawn, Danielle and Greg; son
Murray, daughter-in-law Katherine, & grandchildrenTaylor & Vaughan; brother Lorne Stephen (Charlotte) of Ottawa; Aunt Muriel Mackay- Ross of Nanaimo; Joyce's extended family Sieg, Lina, and Rita Schulz; Scott, Karen, Adam and Alyssa Baker; Lydia Ellison- Prager and numerous friends and family. A special thank you to Muriel Mackay-Ross for her support and companionship in helping Joyce with her illness and to the Palliative Care nursing staff and volunteers at the Nanaimo Hospital for their compassion & wonderful care. On Joyce's request, a memorial service will not be held. The family asks that friends acknowledge Joyce's life with a celebration of their own wishes.
