Patrickson, John
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Patrickson on January 1, 2004. Born in Maryport, England on January 20, 1923, John came to Nanaimo in 1926. John is predeceased by his parents William and Florence Patrickson. John is survived by his loving wife Elsie of 57 years, sons Brian (Carol) Patrickson, grandchildren Jason, Jarret, Rob, Julie and Jaime, great grandchildren Keiran and Haley. Gary (Nikki) Patrickson, grandchildren Cassidy and Jaclyn, and his daughter Gail (Gordon) Greenaway, grand-children Aaron and Mike. John started his working career on the CPR Ferries where he met the love of his life, Elsie. He then went on to work for Eureka/Anglo Canadian / CIPA Sawmill. After retirement he went on to be a member of the board of directors for the Nanaimo Credit Union. John was also involved with the Navy League of Canada (Nanaimo) and as a golden member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. John’s loves of life were his family, crib, and camping/fishing. A memorial service will be held for John on Thursday, January 8, 2004 at 2:00pm, at Sands Funeral Chapel, One Newcastle Avenue, Nanaimo, BC. A celebration of life for John will continue after the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in John’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of BC.
