Mar 5, 1952 - Feb 26, 2018
We lost Jo to cancer on February 26, 2018. Left to mourn are Brian Hunter, the love of her life; her children; Mike (Jen, Cohen, Chloe), Sam (Chantal, Cooper, Winston), Pat (Valerie), and stepchildren; Dave and Jen (Capri).

She was born in Maple Creek, SK, on March 5, 1952 and moved with her family to Victoria in 1956. During the years of raising her three boys, Jo was very active with Scouts Canada serving in various roles including District Commissioner and District President. She also served as treasurer to the board of the Victoria Women's Transition House.

Jo had many workplaces over the years including personnel manager for Zellers, an accounting position with BC Hydro head office, managing Scout Shop and lastly working for the BC Government for just under 21 years.

From the moment Jo met Bri, they not only fell in love, but they also cherished everything about each other. The strength and support he gave to Jo throughout her illness was amazing.

We will miss our weekly Sunday dinners with up to fifteen of us visiting, laughing and enjoying Nana and Papa's hospitality. Though their house got crowded and hectic, Nana never seemed happier than when she stood in the kitchen with the chaos of her family surrounding her, preparing to feed the masses. She loved her family, completely and unconditionally, and she will be deeply missed.

Her family wishes to extend a huge thank you to Dr. Taylor Swanson, Doctor Van Der Weyde, the oncologists, the staff at the BC Cancer Agency in Victoria, BC and Kristen at the Medicine Shoppe on Departure Bay Road. We also wish to express a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff and volunteers at the NRGH Palliative Care unit for their kindness and compassion during this very difficult time.

A celebration of Jo's life will be held at Telford's Memorial, 595 Townsite Road, Nanaimo,  Saturday, March 10th at 1:00pm.

Flowers graciously declined - Donations to the Cancer Society are appreciated.
