1958 ~ 2010

Today we write about Jay, to remember this generous, thoughtful, family man, who leaves to mourn him countless family and friends. Jay passed away after a tragic accident on Saturday, October 2, along with his beloved fiancee Andrea Spyker. Jay was a firm believer in the value of family, he was a devoted father, son, brother, and uncle. Jay attended every family gathering and often created warm and welcoming family gatherings in his home.

Jay is survived by his dear sons: Jeff and Dave and their mother Violet; his father, Reginald and his mother Marge; step-mom Cheryl, step-dad Bud, also his siblings: Sherry & her husband Lunn and their two sons: Jordan and Sean; Jeff and his wife Anna; Shane, Rick and his wife Terri and Dan. Special friends in Jay’s life are too numerous to name, their love and support shines bright during this darkest hour and is appreciated by all the family and those who feel like family.

Jay created J. Searson Electric and had clients who often became good friends with Jay. He was decent, worked hard and had such charm and humor it was just so easy to like him. Jay has donated free electrical services for years, some who benefited were our S.P.C.A., the Clay Tree Society, several churches and many more people who Jay felt needed help. Jay was a man who loved his children and showed it, he loved his fiancee and they had plans, hopes and dreams together as a family, he will be dearly missed.

Jay and Andrea will have a Celebration of Life at the Moose Lodge, 1356 Cranberry, this Saturday, October 9th between 2:30 and 5:00pm. All who knew Jay or Andrea are welcome and encouraged to come. This will be the time to share something of yourself and Jay or Andrea, or just listen to others and enjoy the closeness of this last farewell... until we meet again.

Jay will be cremated and his ashes will rest with Andrea’s in a beautiful park-like setting at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens and Crematorium; back into nature as was his final wish.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to one of Jay’s favorite charities. Every year he manned a kettle for the Salvation Army Kettle Drive and gave freely of his services to the S.P.C.A. and the Clay Tree. Remember Jay by helping others - what a lovely way to remember this kind, generous, funny, terrific man.
