VLASICH, IVAN
August 22, 1926 ~ November 29, 2010
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Ivan was born on August 22, 1926 in Kostanjevac, Zumberak, Croatia. He passed away peacefully on Monday, November 29th, 2010 at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Ivan is predeceased by his mother and father, Barbara & Steve Vlasich. Ivan leaves behind to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 61 years, Mary; two daughters: Zorka and son-in-law Nick of Nanaimo, and Maryanne and son-in-law Ron of North Vancouver; much adored grandchildren: Michael, Christopher, and Amara; and many relatives and friends in Croatia and Canada.
Ivan was a kind, generous, loving man whose greatest joy in life was providing assistance to and visiting with his family. After retiring from Harmac Pulp and Paper Mill in 1986, Ivan enjoyed spending more time with his family and pursing his passion for gardening.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Parish on December 4, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Father Waldemar Podlasz officiating. Private family entombment will follow at the Abbey Mausoleum, Ocean View Burial Park, Burnaby.
In lieu of flowers donations, made in Ivan’s memory, to the Vancouver Island Kidney Patients’ Association, Box 5145 Station B, Victoria, BC V8R 6N4, would be appreciated.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ivan’s doctors: Dr. A. Lane, Dr. R. Weir, and nurses for their exceptional care and compassion.
