passed away suddenly on October 7, 2003 in Victoria, BC. Ivan is predeceased by his parents, Magda and Jim. Ivan is survived and deeply missed by his loving wife, Helen of 52 years; three children; Lee (Jan), Diana and Sherry (Randy) and five grandchildren: Tyler, Logan, Mark, Danielle and Tegan. Ivan also leaves behind his brother, Everett (Ines) and two sisters, Mary (Gerald) and Dorothy (Henry). Ivan was born on August 19, 1928 in Macklin, Saskatchewan. Ivan and his family moved to Nanaimo in 1965. Throughout his lifetime Ivan wore many hats - farmer, school teacher, Sunday school teacher, construction, businessman, city assessor, draftsman, real estate agent, land developer and in his last years and days, author. His greatest satisfaction and accomplishment was the development of Woodgrove Centre with his partner and long time friend Deanne Finlayson. He loved to golf, cook and spend time on his computer. One of Ivan’s great joys was dancing, he devoted many years to square dance calling and teaching young people how to dance. He especially loved young people and their zest for life and took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren. A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 15 at 1:00pm at Sands Funeral Chapel, One Newcastle Avenue, Nanaimo with Reverend Mas Iwasawa officiating. Reception to follow.
