In loving memory of
Isabel Joan Garner
December 14, 1933 – June 27, 2007
Joan Garner was a very special lady who remained determined, funny, feisty, and hopeful until she died on June 27th, 2007 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She did not battle her illness alone. Jack Garner, her husband of 56 years, battled with her.
Joan loved life. She enjoyed being with friends and family, and she loved being with her husband at home or travelling the world. She was known for being a terrific cook and a talented seamstress, especially of handmade fabric dolls. She loved all animals, particularly her dogs, the deer she fed from her hand, and the birds in her garden. She especially treasured Christmas celebrations with her family.
Joan was much loved and will be missed by her husband, Jack, her daughter Lynne; her sons Steve, Jeff, and Andy; her brother, Derek, her son-in-law, Paul; her daughters-in-law Terry, Nancy, and Linda, her grandchildren Adrian, Tara, Reid, Jessica, Drew, Bryce, Christina, and James, and her three great grandchildren, and other family members. She will also be missed by her friends, who were a special and important part of her life.
A memorial and Celebration of Life will be held at noon on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at First Memorial Services, 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, BC.
