Hendrick van Poederooyen

August 9th, 1926 - September 1st, 2017

Hank was born in Hengelo, The Netherlands.

He was predeceased by his parents, wife Lidy and sister Bep at 91, and his brother Kees at 89 a few months ago. 

Hank and his family, wife Lidy, daughter Aleida, sons Jos and Robert, immigrated to Canada in 1945 to Port Alberni. He has 3 children, 1 granddaughter, and 3 grandsons, and 2 great grandchildren. 

His family immigrated to Canada in 1954 to Port Alberni.

Hank enjoyed working for Macmillan & Bloedel in the woods as a foreman until his retirement. He was known by the nickname "Hollywood Hank" by his crew. 

Later he moved to Nanaimo for about 15 years where he enjoyed his good friends Karen, Joe, and many more. He enjoyed going to the M.G.M restaurant for supper and dancing with friends.

He also enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Italy, France, and The Netherland. Four years ago Hank moved to Pacifica, a wonderful independent living in Vancouver.

Hank had his drivers license renewed at 90 years young.

Hank passed away from a heart attack while dancing. What a wonderful way to go. 

Celebration of life for Hank is on October 19, 2017 @ 7:00 pm at Beban Park Hall.
