April 16, 1971 - June 11, 2018
It is with broken hearts that we say goodbye to Greg Badger. Greg left his family and friends too early when he passed away suddenly on June 11, 2018. He will be greatly missed by his loving parents: Irene and Don, who referred to Greggy as their love baby; his brothers: Jack (Michelle) and Geoff (Cheryll); his nieces and nephews: Brok, Bronte (Phil), Brolin, Madison, Tatum and Jennifer (Jared); his Funk Your Fashion family and the numerous people whose lives Greg touched in many meaningful ways.
Greg was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, and throughout his life displayed outstanding musical and athletic abilities. He attended the University of Alberta from 1990 to 1995 and graduated with a bachelor of physical education. During this time, Greg became the point guard on U of A's two national championship basketball teams and in their final game was recognized as the team's most valuable player. Greg later went on to open Funk Your Fashion, a unique and successful consignment store, on one of the main streets in Nanaimo. Within its walls, he built a community of loyal customers and friends. Greg's passing has left a hole in the hearts of many including the downtown community of Nanaimo.

Celebrations of Greg's life are planned for Nanaimo: Tuesday, July 17th 3:00 pm at Beban Park Auditorium, 2300 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, BC and Edmonton: Thursday, July 19th at 3:00 pm in the Enoch Grand Ballroom, Edmonton Marriott at River Cree Resort, 300 East Lapotac Blvd, Enoch, AB. At the celebrations, friends will be given the opportunity to share stories and memories of Greg.
As part of Greg's legacy, the Badger family is establishing the Greg Badger Memorial Foundation. The Foundation will support U of A basketball athletes as well as mental health and addiction initiatives.
In lieu of flowers, and in support of causes near and dear to Greg's heart, donations can be made to the Foundation. All personal donations are eligible for a tax credit. Please make cheques payable to 'The Benefaction Foundation' with a note on the memo line 'In support of the Greg Badger Memorial Foundation'.
