MAWHINNEY, Grace
October 23, 1922 to October 16, 2009
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend.
Predeceased by her parents, Ann and James Wilson, daughter Darlene Joy and sister Agnes Cochrane. Grace is survived by her sister Elizabeth (Bess) Rollo and brother George Bevis; daughter Linda (Colin) Clayton of Langley and granddaughter Jaime (Neil), great-granddaughter Madison, granddaughter Bailee; son Doug Mawhinney of Courtenay, grandson Kyle; daughter Leanne (Ron) Frank of Courtenay, grandson Dustin (Ana), great-granddaughter Yadira; grandson Dylan. Step-grandchildren Cory, Phoebe, Ben and Will. Nephews and nieces.
Grace was born and raised and lived most of her life in Nanaimo. She worked for many years as cashier at the Diner’s Rendezvous which she enjoyed very much. She was a great homemaker, taking pride in her family, home and yard. She especially enjoyed summer months spent at the family cabin at Neck Point. She also enjoyed many Friday nights (coffee and dessert) spent with good friends Agnes Morelli and Joyce Lumley.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia. We are eternally grateful to the wonderful care Mom received at the Langley Lodge over the last couple years.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Grace held at the Nanaimo Golf Club on Monday, November 9th, 2009 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
