Gordie's smile was contagious! This quiet, talented man passed peacefully at home in Nanaimo on August 19th. He was born in Vancouver to Stuie and Marge Mill and he was little brother to Arline ( Tuck Hatch), all now deceased.

Gordie grew up in Point Grey, Vancouver where he attended Kits High School. In 1959 he married the love of his life, Edna Blanchett, and together they had Sylvia and Allen. Sadly, Sylvia died at age six and Gordie held her forever in his heart.

Gordie loved the outdoors and his favorite job was working at the Royal Columbian Hospital as the Groundskeeper. Many of his interests were also nature-related. He hiked the West Coast Trail many times, hiked Cape Scott with Edna and Allen, often explored Newcastle Island with Edna and did lots of walking. In addition, he enjoyed cooking; scoured middens and shops for antiques and in later years taught himself to create awesome wood carvings!

Gordie is greatly missed by Edna, Allen, nieces Elaine ( Ron London), Carolyn (Paul Burgess, deceased) and numerous great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sept. 29 in Nanaimo. Please contact Edna or Elaine for more information.
