Gordon Davis, 74, passed away April 12, 2018 at Royal Jubilee hospital in Victoria. He was born in North
Vancouver, B.C and is predeceased by his parents Matthew and Marjorie Davis.
In 1966 Gord married Alison Petty and in 1974 they moved with their young family to Nanaimo, B.C.
In 1976 Gord started working for School District 68, where he remained until his retirement in 2003. He spent most of his career at Forest Park Elementary School, where staff and students alike loved to stop and chat with Mr. Davis.
Gord loved the outdoors and enjoyed activities such as hiking, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, and fishing. After his retirement he joined the Bowen Park Seniors Woodworking and Stained Glass classes, and on Thursday nights he enjoyed a game of darts with friends. When not busy taking a class or spending time with family, Gord could be found puttering in his garden or tinkering in his shop and always had his faithful dog by his side. They were best friends.
Gord loved the Lord with all his heart, mind and soul. He was involved in St. Andrews Presbyterian Church for many years and most recently joined the church family at Nanaimo First Baptist.
Gordon leaves behind to mourn his loss: his beloved wife of 52 years, Alison; his children Heather, Kevin, Jennifer (Rick), Bradley (Chelsey); his grandchildren Kayla, Tyler, Nathaniel, Bethany, Miles, Mady; his brothers Malcolm (Trudy), Lyle (Carol), his sister Barbara (Keith); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gord's greatest legacy will be his faith and his love of family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 21st, 2018 at 1:00 pm. This will take place at Nanaimo First Baptist Church and there will be a reception to follow.
