Gordon Henry Clarke

January 21, 1952 ~ October 22, 2012

Gordon Clarke passed away, peacefully, at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on October 22, 2012. Gordon called Vancouver Island home his entire life. Most of his time was spent in the Coombs area with his family, except when his employment took him to Port Hardy and the North Island.

Gordon is survived by his children: Corinne Walsh, Robert Clarke, Terry (Aaron) Kushner, Donald Clarke, and their mother, Brenda Albert; his grandchildren: Kylie, Chase, Layton and Riley; his father, Ken Clarke; siblings: Melvin (Cindy) ClarkeLorraine (Michelle) Lauzon and Barry Clarke; his nieces and nephews: Dannette, Krystal, Shawn and Jamie.

Gordon had a lifelong interest in machinery and heavy equipment. He completed an apprenticeship in Heavy duty mechanic, welder and commercial driver around the Central and North Island; Gord was never far from home. On a more personal level, there was hunting, fishing and a lifelong interest in aviation that included getting his pilots license in his teens, building model airplanes and a first generation ultralight aircraft. More recently, he was never far from his camera, making a record of his adventures as his work took him around the Island.

Forever in my Heart

Gone yet not forgotten,

Although we are apart,

Your spirit lives within me,

Forever in my heart.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Gordon’s name, to the Canadian Cancer Society. Memorial services will be held at Yates Funeral Chapel, in Parksville, on November 10, 2012 at 1:00pm.
