Announcing the completion of a life well lived.
Gilbert left this world surrounded by light and love, with his family at his side.
Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Gilbert eventually made his way to Victoria, where he met his wife, Irma (nee Laine). In 1975 they moved with their two children, Marion and James, to Nanaimo.
Gilbert was an unfailingly kind and gentle man, with a zest for life that rarely faltered. He had a keen interest in science, technology, and theoretical physics. He loved music and keeping active through walking, biking, and in his later years, dancing. Above all, Gilbert had a deep concern and compassion for all of humanity.
He is predeceased by his wife Irma, and his brothers, Raymond and Clement.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Marion (Ken), his son James (Denise), his beloved grandchildren, Alexander, Lauren and Carson, and by his nephews and nieces.
A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
“Love is metaphysical gravity.”
