In Loving Memory ~
A Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend, Gayle Jordan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Helen, children Erin and Sean (Francine), grandchildren Oscar, Oliver, and Charlotte, sister Linda (Bob), and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his parents Carman and Velna, and his sister Sandra (Leonard).
Gayle was born the eldest of three children on a farm near Carmangay, Alberta. After marrying Helen in 1971, they adventured and made their way west. Gayle was in real estate and property development for many years and was an integral part of the communities where he lived (Red Deer, Prince George, Campbell River), and in particular the Nanaimo Community where he and Helen chose to raise their children.
He spent many hours volunteering, including time with Nanaimo Minor Hockey, VIAHA, the Nanaimo Music School, and many more.
Later in life, he switched careers and studied computer science at Royal Roads University, which took him and Helen on a new adventure up north to Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. He greatly enjoyed this new experience and the friends he made there.
He retired to Ladysmith, BC and spent his retirement travelling south with Helen in their RV and surrounded by his family, particularly his grandchildren who brought so much joy to his life.
Gayle enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, hunting and camping. He loved to play games and he loved watching sports (especially baseball and hockey). He could be found most weekends at the local hockey arenas, cheering on his Grandsons Oscar and Oliver and more recently at the gymnastics hall cheering on his Granddaughter Charlotte.
We will take comfort in remembering all the great times we shared as a family and all our happy memories. We will miss you so much!
