Fay-Ann Winona Torhjelm

April 1, 2020

September 22, 1963 - April 1, 2020
Fay-Ann passed away suddenly and peacefully in her home in Vancouver on April 1, 2020.
She is predeceased by her father Charles on March 31, 2017. She is survived by her mother Kathy, her sisters, Carolyn (John Ronald) and Shannon (Shawn Wilson), and her brother Mark. She was "Aunty Fay" to her beloved nieces Paige and Sophia Ronald and her nephews Tyler and Graeme Wilson. She will be missed by her dear friend Leitizia.
Fay-Ann was born in Victoria and grew up in Duncan and Nanaimo where she attended school and spent many happy hours in Girl Guides. She lived her adult years in Vancouver.
Fay-Ann faced many health challenges in her life and she met them with courage and energy. She was always looking for ways to make a contribution and she shared her passion for arts and crafts through the peer support program at the Coast Resource Centre. In 2017 she received the Carma Rogers award that recognizes a person's "service to others and contribution to Coast community, of perseverance and self-determination, of thoughtfulness and caring for other Coast members" - definitely an award that highlights so many of Fay-Ann's qualities.
Fay-Ann also enjoyed her work in the service industry, most recently at Safeway. She always maintained a positive outlook on life, and many have commented on how much fun she was and how they enjoyed her keen sense of humour.
Fay-Ann's favorite author was A.A.Milne, and Winnie the Pooh's view "When Life throws you a rainy day, Play in the puddles" completely and succinctly describes Fay-Ann's approach to any obstacles she encountered.
Fay-Ann will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. She will live forever in our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in Fay-Ann's memory may be made to the Coast Foundation, 293 East 11th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5T 2C4
