Evelyn passed away peacefully at Dufferin Place after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, George.

Evelyn was predeceased by her children; Norman Jeffs, and Mary (Don) Keeping, and grandchildren; Tony, Michael and Mathew Jeffs.

She is survived by her children; Barbara (Dale) Irving, Christine (Gordon Ryall), Gordon Jeffs (Sherry), Jack (Becky) Jeffs and Gloria (Robert) Louwers, 23 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was a wife, sister, mother, grandma, great grandma, aunt and a friend to many. She was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Born in Nanaimo to William and Doris Graham. Mom was the youngest of three children, a sister to Willy and Jack who predeceased her. As a teenager, she met the love of her life, George Jeffs and in 1948 they got married when mom was 19. She worked very hard for many years, caring for her ever expanding family.

Mom was gentle and soft spoken in nature, but had incredible inner strength and patience, that lifted her over life's many hurdles. As a mother she was loving, kind and cheerful, always trying to brighten our day with her sense of humour and fun loving nature. She valued her relationships with family and friends far more than any material items.

She was a woman of many talents: a fabulous baker and cook, talented seamstress - sewing many outfits for her children and grandchildren, knitted, crocheted, enjoyed crafting, and loved spending time working in her beautiful gardens.

After the children had grown, mom and dad enjoyed snow birding together and frequent trips away in their motor home, until health issues kept them at home.

Thank you to all the people we met over the years at Dufferin Place - staff, volunteers, residents and other family members. You enriched our lives in so many ways.

A very special thank you to the nurses and care-aids who go above and beyond, working hard every day with love and compassion in their hearts, making sure their patients get the care that they need. God bless.

There will be no service at mom's request. A private family service will held at a later date.

Swap a smile, trade some cheer, let's be happy while we're here.
