Eva Maria Cichon

It is with love and sadness that we say goodbye to Eva Cichon: mother, grandmother, and friend. Eva passed away suddenly on January 26th, 2017 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

She was predeceased by her mom and dad, brother Bernhard, husband Leo, her daughter Cris (Ken) Woods and her son Andrew (Jeannie). She is survived by her sister Barbara, sons Con (Dora), George (Remy) and daughter Eileen (Glenn) Sheepwash. Eva was a proud grandparent to 7 grandchildren: Tammy (Dan) McBride, Dee (Jason) Mikolas, Randy (Becky), Shane (Courtney), Devon (Kristina), Dustin and Travis. She was blessed with 5 great-grandchildren, Josh, Lindsay, Elsie, Eva and Damien.

Eva was born and raised in Germany where she met and married the love of her life Leo. They moved to Canada in 1952 and lived in Yellowknife where they raised their children before moving to Vancouver Island in 1965. They made life long friends at the Evangelistic Tabernacle and cherished their love for God.

Eva was always so appreciative of all the doctors, nurses, care aids and support workers at NRGH and Nanaimo Seniors Village that cared for her over the years, many leaving a lasting impression with her.

Eva will be missed by those her knew her, especially her family whom she treasured, but will always be fondly remembered. A private service will be held on February 6, 2017 where she will be laid to rest next to her Leo. Rest in peace our Energizer Bunny.

Eva was a proud and generous supporter of the Nanaimo Hospital Foundation and would be honored to have any donations made in her name in lieu of flowers.
