Elouise (Louise) Roads Wilson

Born in Victoria Oct.28 (a lady never tells her age) Louise passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Dec 7 2014 in Nanaimo Seniors Village.

Louise was a well-known colorful character of Nanaimo. Every day, proudly wearing her Legion beret with her brave and loyal Jack Russell, Vicky by her side she walked miles. Loving to kayak, read, write, paint, dance and sing, her infectious laughter and joy could rejuvenate those fortunate enough to share in it. She had strong convictions and beliefs with the strength and determination to speak and be heard. She was eccentric and fiercely intelligent.

Louise was from a notable family including Judges Eli Harrison Sr. and Jr. Judge P.P Harrison and Victor B Harrison, Prosecuting Attorney for the famous brother X11 case and five term Mayor of Nanaimo. Louise earned her Law degree and was one of the first BC women to open her own Law Practice. As a mature student Louise earned degrees in Visual Arts and Art History. Her work at UVic.was the catalyst for a book written about her family entitled ‘The Judges Wife’.

Louise’s passing is a sad loss to our community and Vancouver Island. She will be missed and remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know and share her exuberance.

A donation to a University education would be a wonderful way to honor Louise’s memory and passion. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday Jan. 12th at 11a.m., Branch 256 Legion, 1630 E.Wellington Rd.
