Elizabeth Anne Thompson

(nee McCully)

September 22, 1943 – August 26, 2016

It is with great heartache and sadness we announce the passing of our mother, sister and grandmother, Elizabeth (Liz) Thompson, the evening of August 26th.

She fought a long and hard battle for many years since the death of her husband Fred in 2008. She never complained, showed great determination, dignity, grace and sense of humor until the very end. After enduring years of pain and suffering, she was often referred to as the “poster girl” for NRGH… as not many patients have been in ICU on life support six times, and have lived to talk about it.

Predeceased by her Brother David, Mother Lillian, and Husband Fred. Survived by her three children, Fred (Angela), Laurie Armstrong (Bill), David (Wendy), her brother John (Doreen), grandchildren Brandon, Andrea, Megan, and Jacob and several nieces and nephews. We would like to send special thanks for the many occasions of wonderful care while in ICU, and to all of the doctors and nurses of Floor 5 and Palliative Care. Heartfelt thank you to family Dr. Janssen, and to special friend Margaret Saam, we couldn’t have made it through that last night without you.

Mom will miss her daily walks at the harbor and coffee with all of her friends she loved so much.

Mom, you will be forever loved and dearly missed. Love from all your family.

Service to be held on Wed., Sept 21st, 2016 @ 11am @ St Peter’s Church, 301 Machleary St. Nanaimo. Tea and reception downstairs to follow.
