Edward Allen Halfyard, known to his family and friends as "Ted", died suddenly of heart failure, at his home in Nanaimo on June 4, 2021, at the age of 78.
Ted was born in Nanaimo on August 5, 1942, and lived his life here. He worked for many years for Wire Rope Industries, before retiring. Ted played senior lacrosse for several seasons in the 1960's and 70's. He was a long time member of the Nanaimo Fish and Game Club, and competed regularly in trap shooting competition. He was an avid fisherman and duck hunter.
Ted was a skilled wood carver, and also did some oil painting. He kept up with current events in sports, and political affairs. He enjoyed playing games at the casino. Ted played guitar as his private hobby, and attended many musical events, often at the Queens Hotel. He always kept a fine garden.
Ted never married and had no children. He was pre-deceased by his parents and his sister Margaret. He is survived by his brother Douglas, his sister-in-law Doreen, and seven nieces and nephews. There will be no memorial service, No flowers, please.
