It is with profound sadness that the family of Douglas Edward Frey share of his passing, peacefully on Thursday, February 9th, 2023, with his beautiful wife of 53 years, whom he adored dearly, Maureen Frey, by his side. Doug was a beloved Husband, Father, Papa, and friend to many. He is survived by his wife Maureen, his son Darren (Lisa), his daughter Tanis (Weiland), his five grandchildren Cara, Kaesha, Owen, Jacob, and Oliva, and brother-in-law, Doug (Jackie). Also survived by his siblings, Leona (Dale), Vi, Ken (Gloria), and Dennis. As well, survived by countless friends, whom he would consider his extended family.
Those who know him, can’t think of him without a smile on his face. He was a man that was a pillar of his community and the foundation of his family. He truly loved his life, the people that surrounded him, and saw the best in everyone. Doug worked hard throughout the years and made many friends while in the sheet metal and wholesale heating business. He played hard, enjoyed travels and sunshine, and had a love for golfing, fishing, and curling. He would say that he loved his grandkids and his wife most of all.
A special thanks to Dr. Houghton, as Doug always enjoyed his regular Walk with the Doc and thank you to those who responded to give medical attention.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A celebration of his life will be held February 18th, 2023, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Cavallotti Hall, 2060 E Wellington Rd, Nanaimo, B.C.
