April 25, 1975 - March 22, 2024

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Dean, on March 22, 2024 at the age of 48. Deano is survived by his parents, daddo Harjap and momma, Jaswant, his two beautiful children, Savannah and Chase Dewan, his brother, Shawn (Sandra), nephew, Xander, niece, Harlyn, special Aunt Harmesh and other numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends- Bones, Maughnzie, Foggy, Darryl and countless other friends.

Dean was born on April 25, 1975 in Nanaimo, BC. Dean went to school at Bayview and graduated from John Barsby Secondary in 1993. He graduated from the nursing program in 2006 and worked at Nanaimo Seniors Village and the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. He received many accolades of outstanding service from his patients throughout his nursing years.

Dean loved his sports and was a natural athlete. He excelled at golf, volleyball, lacrosse, soccer, and tennis, just to name a few. At the age of ten, he won the Vancouver Island chess championship and the Nanaimo Junior Open Tennis tournament at the age of 12. At the age of 15, he was ranked # 11 in BC for Junior Tennis.

In 2000 (age 25), he and his dad (age 50) won the silver medal at the BC Summer Games in tennis. In addition, he won many MVP awards in lacrosse.

Dean was an entertainer and a comedian. He loved singing and impersonating Elvis and was the highlight at any social gathering. He touched many people in so many ways with his kindness, generosity, respect, and loyalty.

He took up knitting to make toques for family, friends, and charities, such as the Nanaimo Haven House. Dean never held a grudge and loved his children, family, and friends unconditionally. He will be dearly missed by so many. Funeral services for Dean were held on March 30, 2024.
