It is with great sadness that our dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend David passed away peacefully at Nanaimo Hospital, Saturday, Oct 26th. Dave was predeceased by his loving wife, Margaret Mae (nee Thiel) 3 years previous on Oct 30th, 2016. Dave leaves behind Brother John, nephew Kris, niece Jennifer, sister in law Elaine, former sister in law Darlene and Cousin Debbie.
David also leaves behind many friends on Cortes Island where he and Margaret ran a charming B & B. David was active in the Island community serving as area director in the 90's and he always had many fond memories of his life on the Island.
In retirement David and Margaret wasted no time traveling as much as they could until Margaret really could not travel anymore due to MS. David continued to care for Margaret in their home in Nanaimo until her passing in 2016. Unfortunately, by then David was legally blind and his health had suffered. David continued to travel as much as he could and took the Via train across Canada one last time with his brother this past July to Toronto. Alas, it was to be his last trip. Dave returned home to Nanaimo and was admitted to hospital and succumbed to his illness 3 months later.
David requested that there be no service only that his ashes be placed in Squirrel Cove anchorage along side Margaret's ashes; a special place near and dear to them both.
