CLINTON OARN LOWRY

December 16, 2008

LOWRY, Clinton Oarn

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Clinton Oarn Lowry on December 16, 2008. Clinton was born in Sangudo, Alberta on July 25, 1914 on the family farm. There he learned resourcefulness, self reliance and developed his skills as a “faller” in the logging business - a skill he pursued on Vancouver Island as a young man. After several injuries he left the woods to enter a career in Life Insurance sales with Confederation life. Some years later, he took a position as “Forestry Supervisor” at Brannen Lake Correctional School for Boys. He continued in this position until the “Boys School” closed, after which, he retrained, and became a Financial Officer for B.C. Human Resources - a posting he held until his retirement.

Clinton leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Kathleen, and two sons - Terry (Judy), and Lorne (Lucia). He also leaves three grand-children, Debbie (Dave), Jeff, and Cristi (Kevin) as well as three great grand-children, Jesslyn, Logan and Lucy. Clinton instilled many positive attributes in his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

A special thanks to Dr. Forrester for his continuing care of Clinton and to the wonderful and caring staff at Travellers’ Lodge, who were so helpful and kind to Clinton during his last months.

By his own request, there will be no service and final arrangements will be handled by First Funeral Services in Nanaimo.
