MADDEN,
Charles John Arthur
Born August 9, 1924, passed away February 12, 2015. Forever remembered, deeply loved & sadly missed by his wife June, sons Harry & John (Rosa), stepsons Steve (Joan) & David Bentley, step grandchildren Thomas & Rachel Bentley. Granddaughter Valerie (Rob Campbell). Predeceased by grandson Johnny Madden & faithful dog Una.
Charlie leaves behind extended family and many friends. Charlie spent most of his working years as a commercial fisherman, had a clay pot company that supplied Van. Nurseries and did bulldozing in W. Vancouver. He decided to build another fishing boat, the “MV Persistent” teaching his boys how to fish. On his maiden voyage with his oldest son they rescued three crew members from their sinking boat. Charlie loved to reminisce about his experiences with excellent memory and a few choice swear words thrown in and if you were lucky when he was smoking fish or pickling onions you got some.
Many thanks to his doctors and caregivers, No service by request. Donations to your favorite charity would be appreciated. Cremation and scattering of his ashes at sea as he wished.
“I did not die”
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints of snow
I am the sunlight of ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn’s rain
When you waken in the mornings hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight
Do not cry, I did not die.
