Bob Plecas

August 1923 ~ October 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bob Plecas. Bob died peacefully in the Palliative Care unit of NRGH with his family by his side. Bob is predeceased by his son Bob; his brothers: Mike, Steve, John, Nick, and Dan. He is survived by his loving wife Rose; his sons: Ron (Sharen) Plecas, Dan (Barb) Plecas; daughters: Sharry (Dave) Curry, Lorilei (Bradley) Thompson; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; sister Mildred Cuckovich, and brother Andy (Marion) Plecas as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bob was born in South Wellington to Branko and Kata Plecas. It was here that he grew up with his six brothers and one sister. Bob joined the air force during WW2 and was proud to have served his country. He met and fell in love with Rose Bowman who became his wife and companion for over 65 years.

Bob spent most of his working life at Harmac where he was a millwright. During his life time, he demonstrated time and again his love of family, of sports, of traveling and gardening. He and Rose worked side by side to create beautiful gardens and lovely landscapes. They rode their bikes together, walked together and bowled together even when they reached their late seventies.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5112 Carol Place, Nanaimo on November 27th from 1 - 4p.m.

No flowers by request, donations, in memory of Bob, may be made to Nanaimo Travellers Lodge.
