Bhan Kaur Shahi
passed away peacefully at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on April 30, 2015.
Bhan Kaur was born Nov. 4, 1925 in India. She came to Canada in 1958 and lived in Paldi BC for eight years before moving to Nanaimo in 1966. She is survived by her children, daughters - Harjit Budial (Raminder), Raminder, and Harmesh (Dave) and sons - Harb, Harjap (Jaswant), Paul, Terry and one sister, Amar Kaur Dhami.
She was a loving grandmother who had an influential role in raising her grandchildren, Onkary, Kalvir, Neena, Dean (Leanne), Shawn (Sandra) Mark, Manisha, Annika and Soren. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Savannah, Xander, Chase and Harlyn.
Our mother was a very generous and caring person. She enjoyed life and had a large circle of friends on the island. She devoted many years of service to the Community Sikh Temple.
She will always be in our heart and we will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be at First Memorial Funeral Chapel on Bowen Road, Nanaimo BC on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 9:45 a.m. Cremation will be at the Cedar Valley Crematorium followed by lunch and prayer services at the Sikh Temple on Third Street, Nanaimo, BC.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Bhan’s memory to a charity of your choice.
