On Friday, October 18, 2013 Betteena Moss of Nanaimo, B.C. passed away peacefully at Woodgrove Manor, at the age of 96. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Henry Moss and her granddaughter, Tamara Dawn Moss. Betteena is survived by her sister, Joan House (nephew Ziff); her two sons: John (Margie), and Robert (Gloria); her grandchildren: Michael, Mathew (Karen), Kathleen (Vicki), Philip and Christian (Ashley) and her great grandchildren, Adriana and Kylen.

Betteena Moss was born in England, June 10, 1917; during her early years her family moved several times. They moved to Canada when she was 1 month old and then to South America when she was 2 months. When she turned five, the family returned to Victoria, B.C. where she lived until she turned 13 and at that time, she returned to England to live with her grandparents. She took her nurses training in England. When the war broke out she joined the Navy for the next seven years. She served on the H.M.S. Victory, Kestrel, Marlborough, at the London training depot and on the H.M.S. Golden Hind in Australia. She was the Chief Petty Officer in charge of thirty five girls. She married Albert in Australia where her first son was born. The family returned to Canada nine years later, settling in Nanaimo B.C. where her second son, Robert was born.

Over the years she was involved in many organizations. She served as cub master for eight years and was a commanding officer in the Wrenettes for seven years. When Albert passed away, in 1980, she joined the Entertainers Band at Bowen Park and was with them for twenty-seven years, serving as president for many of those years. Betteena will be sadly missed.

The family would like to sincerely thank her doctors and the staff at Woodgrove Manor fr all the loving care they gave her.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations, in Betteena's name, to the charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated.
