Bert Yeomans

Feb. 9, 1936 - May 30, 2016

Dad passed away suddenly at NRGH with his family by his side. He is predeased by Marilyn, his wife of 54 years. He is survived by his daughters, Melanie Mattiussi (Ron) and Rhonda Irving (Steve), as well as grandchildren; Alexii Fettback (Dustin), Nicolas Mattiussi (Chelsi) and Steve Mattiussi (Wiola), great grandchildren; Logan, Mason & Kinley Fettback and Sophia Mattiussi. Dad was born in Kingston, Ontario - one of 7 children. He joined the navy as a young man, served for 5 years and used to joke he was Yeoman Yeomans. It was in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he met and married mom, the love of his life. After some years back in Ontario, they decided to move their family to BC in 1971 to be closer to the coast again. Dad loved the water, and he & mom spent many hours enjoying boating together. Dad also loved cars and he & mom made wonderful memories on road trips all across Canada and the US. That love of cars lead to a decades long career in the car business, retiring with much reluctance in his late 60’s as General Manager of the Ford dealership in Parksville. Dad was a devoted family man and loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He’ll be greatly missed, but we know that he and mom are finally together again. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and care aides on the 4th floor of NRGH who looked after him. At dad’s request there will be a small private family gathering only. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
