TATARYN, Alexander

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Alex Tataryn. He is survived by his loving wife Agnes of 59 years of marriage, children: Bruce, David, Don (Jan) and Rob, grandchildren: Emerald, Michael, Chris, Anamieke, Ryk, Yarah, Mariah, Sampson Olivia, greatgrandchildren: Dominique, Savannah and Eudora. Also his soul surviving sister Ollie. Alex enlisted in 1942 and he landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. He served his country as a gunner and helped liberate Holland and was discharged in 1946. He was a full time member of Legion #256. “A true soldier laid to rest.” Alex was liked by all and spent many years giving back to the community. He enjoyed charity work, loved fishing and gardening and making Roses bloom to his best.

A Veterans Service will be held Monday, September 29, 2014 at Legion Branch #256, 1630 Wellington Road East, Nanaimo, BC. from 12:00-3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Alex memory to the #256 Legion or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
