Alex passed away peacefully in his wife's loving arms at home in Nanaimo, surrounded by family and pets, on August 10th, 2021. (Age 39) .
He will be remembered for his charming and often sarcastic sense of humour, his love of the outdoors, and his ardour for helping others.
Prior to his battle with cancer (BPDCN), Alex was a physically active, social and fun loving man. He enjoyed kayaking, mountain biking, 4x4, camping, being creative, problem solving, and building projects.
Alex led his life with a kind heart and his courage and strength was an inspiration to everyone he met.
Alex was a sheet metal fabricator by trade, working his way up from sweeping the shop floor as a youth, to an apprenticeship, becoming ticketed and earning himself the role of shop foreman. He later invested in becoming part owner of Nanaimo Sheet Metal (NSM) and was an active member of the sheet metal workers union for over twenty-years.
His specialty was stainless steel and aluminum TIG welding. Alex was sought out by customers for his attention to detail and his expertise in fine welds.
Alexander will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his wife Avryl, step-sons Jayden and Nolan, his mother Karen, sisters Tracy and Shawna (Jayson), his nephew Daxton, his grandparents David and Isabell as well as his extended family and friends.
He is predeceased by his father Vernon (aka Joe), and grandparents Roscoe and Lena.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
