The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is updating its Land Use and Subdivision Bylaw No. 500, 1987 (Bylaw 500). Bylaw 500 is a planning document that regulates the use of land, buildings and structures in RDN Electoral Areas A, C, E, G and H. The RDN Board gave draft Zoning Bylaw 2500 first reading at its January 9, 2024, meeting and endorsed an engagement plan to seek public input on the draft bylaw.

Share your Feedback

Residents are invited to review and provide feedback on the updated draft zoning bylaw via an online survey and through six upcoming open houses. The feedback collected will be used to recommend changes to the draft zoning bylaw prior to presenting it to the RDN Board for second reading.

Online Survey

An online survey will be available on the project website starting February 1, 2024 at www.getinvolved.rdn.ca/bylaw-500-review. Complete the survey by March 15, 2024, to be entered for a chance to win a $100 gift card to a grocery store of your choice.

The RDN is hosting one open house in each affected electoral area and one open house at the RDN Administration Building. The information provided at each open house will be the same, so there is no need to attend them all or to attend the open house in your area.
